The Nature Conservancy in Colorado
From their innovative work to protect our state's life-giving waters, grasslands, forests and Western Range to partnerships with local ranching communities to create a sustainable future for their families, the Conservancy has been hard at work across Colorado. The Conservancy has protected more than 600,000 acres of critical natural area in Colorado. From alpine forests to vast stretches of open plains, Colorado nurtures landscapes rich with natural diversity where cougar and black bear still roam, where native fish still swim and where songbirds return every spring.
TNC engaged RBSCo to determine how best to conduct the most comprehensive campaign in the Colorado chapter's history. Their interests lay in determining how this campaign could or should differ from all of their other successful work and in particular the role of the Board versus the staff. Our process involved interviewing selected Board and major donors, working closely with staff, and reviewing all of the fundraising infrastructure--all of which allowed us to pinpoint issues that could have, if not addressed, hobbled the campaign. With a clear plan, we then began to a series of trainings and prospect strategy sessions that have allowed the campaign to launch in a most successful way.
We have also worked with the following organizations whose missions seek to positively impact our environment:
- Gore Range Natural Science School
- Keystone Science School
- Teton Science Schools
- Partnership for Sustainability
